Which advantages does the difference between Product and Offer provide for partner flexibility in the Marketplace?
The difference between a Product and an Offer in Mirakl is that a Product represents a general description of an item, while an Offer includes specific details from a seller such as pricing, inventory, and shipping options.
This distinction brings advantages to partners by providing them with flexibility:
- To customize and adapt their offerings according to their specific business requirements to go faster on targeted markets by making offers on existing products
- To benefit (when existing) from products already translated
1/ Difference between Products and Offers
For getting a good comprehension of how Mirakl works and how to identify an error in a product feed, it's important to distinguish these two technical terms:
- Products
Include title, longDescription, webcatchlines, photos and other technical attributes.
Accessible through My Inventory -> Catalog Management
- Offers
Include price (default and per channel), stock, logistic family (to calculate shipping costs).
Accessible through My Inventory -> Offer List
Product and Offer are two separate entities meant to be linked to each other through the Offer’s attributes product-id-type and product-id. The Offer is positioned on the Product; if the Product is in error or is not moderated (validated by a Decathlon operator), the Offer cannot be linked to the product and therefore the product sheet cannot be published.
